Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Bruno Silva, a sole trader trading as Platelift, based in Portlaoise, Co. Laois, Ireland ("we", "us"). They cover the Platelift app for iPhone and Apple Watch, its widgets and extensions, and the Platelift Pro subscription. They are also the end-user licence agreement (EULA) for the app and for Platelift Pro.
Health notice. Platelift is not medical advice and is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Talk to a doctor before starting a new training or diet programme, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition, take medication or have a history of disordered eating. Stop and seek help if you feel pain, dizziness or chest discomfort. In an emergency, call 112 (EU) or your local emergency number.
1. Accepting these terms
By ticking the box on the consent screen, or by using the app, you agree to these terms and confirm you have read the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Platelift.
2. Who can use Platelift
You must be at least 16 years old. By using Platelift you confirm that you are, and that you are physically able to train and change your diet, or have checked with a doctor that you can.
3. What Platelift does
Platelift builds a training plan and daily calorie, macro and water targets from the answers you give during onboarding. It lets you log workouts (including with a back-tap on your iPhone and from Apple Watch), log meals by photo, description, barcode or search, and chat with an AI Coach.
Targets are calculated with published formulas (for example Mifflin-St Jeor for resting energy and 1.6–2.2 g of protein per kg). Projections and goal curves are estimates, not promises. Results depend on many things outside our control, and individual results vary.
4. Health and safety
- Platelift's content is general and educational. It does not replace a doctor, dietitian or qualified trainer, and it does not create a professional relationship with anyone.
- You are responsible for choosing loads, exercises and foods that are safe for you, for using correct technique and suitable equipment, and for listening to your body.
- Calorie and portion estimates, especially from photos, can be wrong. Check them, particularly if you need accurate figures for a medical reason. Do not use Platelift to manage a medical condition such as diabetes or a food allergy.
- The Coach does not give medical advice. It will not answer questions about symptoms, medication or pregnancy dosing, eating disorders, self-harm, performance-enhancing drugs or very low-calorie diets. For these it replies with a fixed safety message or a polite refusal, and may show your local emergency number.
5. AI features
Photo scan, Describe a meal and the Coach use an AI model provided by Anthropic. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Treat it as a suggestion, check it, and do not rely on it as professional advice. AI features are subject to fair-use limits (for example, up to 60 photo scans a day) to keep the service running for everyone. How we handle the data sent to the AI provider is explained in the Privacy Policy.
6. Your account
When you start onboarding, Platelift creates an anonymous account so your plan can be saved. You can then sign in with Apple or with an email link to keep your data across devices. Keep access to your Apple ID and email secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has accessed it.
You can export your data (Settings › Export my data) and delete your account (Settings › Delete account) at any time from the app.
7. Platelift Pro subscription
Onboarding and your plan preview are free. Using the app beyond that, including workouts, food logging, the AI features and Apple Watch, requires Platelift Pro.
Price and offers
- Platelift Pro (yearly): €59.99 per year, or the local price shown in the App Store for your country.
- You may be offered a discounted first year of the same yearly plan: €49.99 or €39.99 for the first year. After the first year, the subscription renews at €59.99 per year. Introductory first-year offers are set up as Apple introductory offers and are generally available once per Apple ID.
- The price you will pay, and the renewal price, are shown before you confirm the purchase. Prices include VAT where applicable.
- There is no free trial at the moment.
Billing and automatic renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase. Apple processes all payments.
- The subscription renews automatically every year at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- If we ever change the renewal price, Apple will tell you in advance and, where the law or Apple's rules require it, ask for your consent.
Cancelling
- Cancel in iPhone Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions › Platelift Pro, or from Platelift: Settings › Manage subscription. You must cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid being charged for the next year.
- If you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Deleting the app or your Platelift account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it with Apple.
- When Pro ends, you can still see your history and export your data.
Refunds
Apple handles all billing, so refunds, including any statutory right of withdrawal you may have as an EU consumer, are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com and decided under Apple's terms. We cannot issue refunds ourselves. If Apple issues a refund, Pro access ends.
Restoring purchases
If you reinstall or change iPhone, sign in to the App Store with the same Apple ID and tap Restore purchases in Platelift.
8. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Platelift on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in line with these terms and the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or create derivative works of the app, except as the law allows. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. The Platelift name, logo, app and content belong to us or our licensors.
9. Acceptable use
Do not: break the law using Platelift; try to access other people's data or our systems without permission; disrupt, overload or probe the service; use bots or scripts to call our servers or AI features; resell access; upload content that is illegal, harmful or that you have no right to share; or try to make the AI produce harmful content.
10. Your content
You own the content you add (logs, photos, messages). You give us a licence to store, process and display it only as needed to run Platelift for you, including sending it to our service providers as described in the Privacy Policy. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Third-party content and services
- Open Food Facts. Barcode lookups use data from Open Food Facts, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL); individual contents are under the Database Contents License and product images under CC BY-SA. Open Food Facts data is contributed by volunteers and may be incomplete or wrong.
- Exercise data. Exercise names and instructions are based on the exercises-dataset by hasaneyldrm, released under the MIT License.
- Apple services. Apple Health, Sign in with Apple, the App Store and Apple Watch are provided by Apple under its own terms.
We are not responsible for third-party services or websites we link to.
12. Availability and changes
We work to keep Platelift available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Some features need an internet connection; logs you make offline are saved on your phone and synced later. We may update, change or remove features to improve the app, for security or legal reasons. If a change materially reduces what you paid for, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel.
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Platelift after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the app and cancel your subscription.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Irish Consumer Rights Act 2022 where digital content or services are not as described or not fit for purpose.
Subject to that: Platelift is provided for personal, non-commercial use. We are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, for business losses, or for injury or loss caused by your failure to follow the health notice above, by exercise you choose to do, or by relying on AI estimates. Our total liability to you in connection with Platelift is limited to the amount you paid for Platelift Pro in the 12 months before the claim.
14. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Platelift and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to for legal reasons. If we end it without your fault, we will give reasonable notice where we can. If we stop offering Platelift altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data.
15. Apple terms
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple, Inc. and its subsidiaries:
- are not responsible for Platelift or its content;
- have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Platelift;
- if Platelift fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Platelift;
- are not responsible for any claims by you or a third party relating to Platelift or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection, privacy or similar claims;
- are not responsible for investigating, defending, settling or discharging any third-party claim that Platelift or your use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights; we are responsible for that, to the extent these terms require;
- are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, have the right to enforce them against you.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also comply with any third-party terms (for example your mobile carrier's) when using Platelift.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of that country, and you may bring a claim in the courts of Ireland or of the country where you live.
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
